Just Very Quickly…

Licorice did not give birth, so we mated her to Bear again.  We’ll see in a month…

The one high school class I teach is full of a bunch of whiners.

I finally feel like I am not drowning in my job.  Barely treading water, but not drowning.  Still, I’m not sure I fit into the culture at this school very well.  I feel pretty alone and am having a hard time making connections with other teachers.  I like most of my students, though.  (The whiny high schoolers are excepted from that statement.)

The weather is getting cooler, which I like.  The days are getting shorter, which I don’t like so much.

Stephan’s getting busy with work, which is great financially, but less great emotionally (for me).

Tonight, I ate for dinner Chicago-style deep-dish pizza (made by my husband) and authentic Chinese hot pot (made by some Chinese students who attend the local university.  My belly is sooo full that I may not need to eat again until Saturday.

Fall break is coming up next Monday and Tuesday.  I’m so glad.  I so need a break.  I am trying to work it so that I’m not grading papers all weekend.

How are YOU?

About Karen Koch

I like the old-fashioned lifestyle. All this new-fangled stuff baffles me sometimes. I cherish living out in the country, raising chickens and rabbits, planting fruit trees, and enjoying a slow life filled with beautiful words and ideas. I don't always achieve a slow life. I teach middle school English and manage a little burgeoning farm with my husband, and somewhere in the midst of that, I try to find time for writing, running, knitting, reading, and playing the ukulele. And sometimes, I actually succeed.
