Herbs and Strawberries

Posted on

We’ve started doing a little planting at home now.  Nothing is coming up yet in the community garden (which is probably good since we’ve had a couple of freeze warnings lately) and we’re a little frustrated because there was supposed to be water available at that garden on April 1, but it’s still not hooked up.  We’re thinking we may have to fill up buckets at home and put them in the truck, haul it out to the garden, and water that way.  Unless we get some rain or a tap hooked up, that is.

But anyway, we haven’t started anything huge at home — just containers so far.

Our thyme wintered over and is looking good.

This wintered over, too.  I think it’s oregano.  Stephan thinks it could be marjoram.

We bought basil…

Mint…

Cilantro…

Rosemary…

And something new this year:  We’re trying strawberries!

About Karen Koch

I like the old-fashioned lifestyle. All this new-fangled stuff baffles me sometimes. I cherish living out in the country, raising chickens and rabbits, planting fruit trees, and enjoying a slow life filled with beautiful words and ideas. I don't always achieve a slow life. I teach middle school English and manage a little burgeoning farm with my husband, and somewhere in the midst of that, I try to find time for writing, running, knitting, reading, and playing the ukulele. And sometimes, I actually succeed.
