Winter / Spring / Summer

Posted on

The calendar indicates that it’s late winter, but the weather insists it’s early summer.  Eighty degrees in mid-March?  This is crazy.

But the sights and sounds of spring are certainly here:

The pink blooms and the heady, sweet scent of the magnolia trees

The whir of golf carts and lawn mowers and the aroma of cut grass

The pop of yellow in fields of daffodils

The hint of green in the treetops, accented by red and white buds here and there

The hollering of school children, ready for spring break (and the sighs of their teachers, who are also ready)

Yep.  It’s spring.

About Karen Koch

I like the old-fashioned lifestyle. All this new-fangled stuff baffles me sometimes. I cherish living out in the country, raising chickens and rabbits, planting fruit trees, and enjoying a slow life filled with beautiful words and ideas. I don't always achieve a slow life. I teach middle school English and manage a little burgeoning farm with my husband, and somewhere in the midst of that, I try to find time for writing, running, knitting, reading, and playing the ukulele. And sometimes, I actually succeed.
