Gryffon (the dog on the left) never used to like his crate.  He’d go in when he had to, but only under duress.

Now that Moe (the guinea pig) lives in the upstairs apartment, Gryffon has decided that he kinds of likes his crate.  I guess it makes him feel close to Moe.  For some reason, Gryffon LOVES Moe.

When I get up in the morning, I let the dogs out of our bedroom and we go downstairs so I can let them outside.  Before I get to the door, though, Gryffon has run into the TV room to check on Moe.  After I’ve eaten my breakfast and packed my lunch, I take the dogs back upstairs, but first Gryffon has to run to check on Moe before he’ll come along.

Gryffon gets really excited when Moe squeaks.  And when Moe decides to squeak, he really squeaks.  It’s crazy.

Gracie isn’t so sure about Moe.  You can see her in the photo looking up at him, wondering why he makes such high-pitched noises.  Kayla was cleaning out Moe’s cage the other day, so she put Moe on the floor in front of the dogs’ crates.  Gracie, from inside her crate, trembled and growled at poor Moe.

But Gryffon will protect him, I’m sure, if Moe needs protecting.  Gryffon has found a new friend, and I think Gracie is a little jealous.

About Karen Koch

I like the old-fashioned lifestyle. All this new-fangled stuff baffles me sometimes. I cherish living out in the country, raising chickens and rabbits, planting fruit trees, and enjoying a slow life filled with beautiful words and ideas. I don't always achieve a slow life. I teach middle school English and manage a little burgeoning farm with my husband, and somewhere in the midst of that, I try to find time for writing, running, knitting, reading, and playing the ukulele. And sometimes, I actually succeed.
