Making the Grow Beds

Posted on

Chef’s been working on the grow beds.  He first had to remove the locks.  I’m not sure why soy product needs to be locked into its container, but apparently it did.  So he cut the locks off each container.

He removed the containers from the cages and made his measurements.

He cut the containers in half.

Then he cut the cages in half.

Then he put them in the aquaponics room.

He has started installing the bell siphons in the beds.  Bell siphons help keep the water from overflowing and keeps.  When the water level gets high from what is pumped into the grow beds from the fish tank, the bell siphon kicks in to return the water to the fish tank.

About Karen Koch

I like the old-fashioned lifestyle. All this new-fangled stuff baffles me sometimes. I cherish living out in the country, raising chickens and rabbits, planting fruit trees, and enjoying a slow life filled with beautiful words and ideas. I don't always achieve a slow life. I teach middle school English and manage a little burgeoning farm with my husband, and somewhere in the midst of that, I try to find time for writing, running, knitting, reading, and playing the ukulele. And sometimes, I actually succeed.
