End of May Garden Update

Posted on

This time last year, we were still a month away from even planting a garden.  This year, since Chef started planting things on March 8, we’ve got quite a lot going on.

We’ve got peas.  Chef said he counted about 11 of them.  We ate two of them on Saturday night, so that leaves us with nine.

Little tomatoes.  We have five now.  This is the biggest one.

These are pineapple tomato plants.  They don’t seem to be doing too well.

Swiss Chard.

Lettuce.  I think this is Black Seeded Simpson.

I think this is a potato plant, but I’m not sure.

We didn’t plan to grow these mushrooms.  It’s just been so wet lately.  We won’t be eating them, though.  I suspect that wouldn’t be healthy.

Leeks.

About Karen Koch

I like the old-fashioned lifestyle. All this new-fangled stuff baffles me sometimes. I cherish living out in the country, raising chickens and rabbits, planting fruit trees, and enjoying a slow life filled with beautiful words and ideas. I don't always achieve a slow life. I teach middle school English and manage a little burgeoning farm with my husband, and somewhere in the midst of that, I try to find time for writing, running, knitting, reading, and playing the ukulele. And sometimes, I actually succeed.
