One More Week

A week from today, I’ll have my second bunionectomy.

I have told people at work about it, so they’ll know when I’ll be out of the office.  One of the girls asked, “So will that be it, then?”

I replied, “Well, I’ve only got two feet.”

This time, I’m going to be a little bit smarter about it.  When I had my right foot done, the surgery was on Friday, August 27, and I was right back at work on Monday, August 30.  Granted, it was only for a couple of hours, but I was there.

Not this time.  I’m taking Monday and Tuesday off.  And my parents are coming to help take care of me.  I mean, Chef’s really good at taking care of me, but sometimes, you need your mama.

Besides, Chef’s got an ice carving competition in New York that weekend.  Yeah, I maybe could have planned that better.

Also, I’ve got the GameReady machine that my friend loaned me, so I’ll start icing my foot properly right away, instead of fighting to keep an ice pack balanced.

I’m hoping to have the intial wrapping off my Christmas and be walking again by the end of January.

Here we go again!

About Karen Koch

I like the old-fashioned lifestyle. All this new-fangled stuff baffles me sometimes. I cherish living out in the country, raising chickens and rabbits, planting fruit trees, and enjoying a slow life filled with beautiful words and ideas. I don't always achieve a slow life. I teach middle school English and manage a little burgeoning farm with my husband, and somewhere in the midst of that, I try to find time for writing, running, knitting, reading, and playing the ukulele. And sometimes, I actually succeed.
